Shrek Spoofs LOTR

5/22/04, 3:53 am EST - Celeborn

Shrek 2, opening this weekend in the US, has a nice little spoof of LOTR in its opening sequence. Shrek and Fiona are enjoying their honeymoon and among a slew of other scenes Shrek pulls a Ring out of a fire, finds it to hot to hold, and lets it fly into the air. The ring than gracefully falls over Fiona's finger, a la Frodo in Bree, and glows with the words 'I love you.' There were also some arm-wrestling tree type folks in another scene, but that might be stretching the Tolkien reference..:) As for the film itself, I would give it an A+. Enjoy!
