Weekly Cast Watch

6/01/03, 10:34 pm EST - Xoanon

The only remarkable thing about this weeks cast watch is how un-remarkable it is! A choice few movies on TV stations around the US and UK this week feature any LOTR stars. Even usual TV powerhouses Christopher Lee (Saruman) and Sean Astin (Sam) have very few showings. For this weeks pick I'd recommend Viggo Mortensen's 'Carlito's Way'. Starring Al Pacino and Sean Penn, Viggo has a small but memorable role in this great crime drama. 'Carlito's Way' is showing on Sky Movies Cinema 1 in the UK. [More]

6/01/03, 8:18 pm EST - Xoanon

Christopher Lee takes a slow puff on his cigar and leans back in his chair at Chelsea's Cadogan Hotel. Tolkien family 'rage' at Rings success

5/31/03, 4:03 am EST - Tehanu

Apparently the news of a musical of LOTR is the final straw for Christopher Tolkien. Well, the final straw until something even more outrageous comes along, I suppose. You have to question the pal-ness of the Tolkien "pal" making the "catatonic" remark in the hearing of a reporter. [More] Thanks to Solinas for the link.

Does The Hulk Have A Beef With Gollum?

5/30/03, 11:25 am EST - Xoanon

Gollum attack! Hulk smash!

The special effects folks behind the new Hulk movie ILM gave a rather lengthy interview on thewebsite SMH.com. During the interview they mention how the HULK CGI will surpass WETA's Gollum on many levels (*cough*). Here's one quote that goes stright to the heart for LOTR fans; 'One thing we came up with was let's make The Hulk interact with his environment...Gollum, he was climbing across the mountains and a river but he doesn't get wet, he doesn't get dirty and doesn't interact that much.' You can read the rest of the article here. Meanwhile I will be raising an army and heading towards The Ranch, who's with me?
