Weaving Joins Chan in 'Myth' & Blanchett in 'Fish'

From comingsoon.net Moviehole tells us that "The Matrix" trilogy and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy star Hugo Weaving is attached to a couple of high-profile studio projects. First up, he'll play a swagging hero in a new Jackie Chan vehicle called The Myth. An adventure film in the vein of "Indiana Jones". Next, Weaving has a role in Little Fish, Rowan Wood's new film about a troubled woman in Sydney's little Saigon district. Martin Henderson and Cate Blanchett will co-star. [More]

Australian Singer Greta Gertler to Record for 'Ringers'

Hollywood, CA -- June 15, 2004: Singer/songwriter Greta Gertler will arrange and perform a cover of the classic ballad "Leave Tomorrow Till It Comes" exclusively for the upcoming feature documentary, Ringers: Lord of the Fans. The song is familiar to Tolkien fans from the 1980 Rankin & Bass animated version of The Return of the King. Ms. Gertler's remarkable sense of melody and orchestration breathes new life into a song originally recorded by "The Limeliters" vocalist Glenn Yarbrough. An original composition from Ms. Gertler, the aptly titled "The Ring," will also appear in the film. [More] [Ringers Website]

At the carpark behind the Stone Stree Studios in Miramar - The Mumak harness that I reported was being stored at the back of the carpark has now in fact, been taken away. The Three Foot Six truck marked "Genetics Departement" (???) that was parked there has also gone. [More]

Kathy writes: I was watching this show on MTV called "Your Face or Mine," and two contestants were voting on who the audience would find the most attractive out of two people. As I turned it on, the two people they had to vote on were Peter Jackson and Michael Moore! The contestants chose Peter, and the host revealed that the audience also chose Peter, with him winning 81% of the votes!

We now all know what I've known for years, Peter is one sexy beast!

Trilogy Screening at Bonnaroo Music Festival

Bill writes: I just got back from the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN. One interesting note: New Line Cinema had a tent set up where they showed movies around the clock on a big screen tv (one of those huge lcd things). On saturday, they showed the entire trilogy back to back.

The process, which involved a nomination and winner selection round, has been going on since February 2004 and has finally concluded today with the announcement of the winners of the 2004 TORNsib Awards.

The trophy depicts "the ultimate pixelated trophy of the highest geek honour" and is called the TORNie. 52 votes were counted for the nomination round and an impressive 92 votes were counted for the winner selection round. Thanks to everyone who participated. Here are the winners, in bold: [More]

Mary was the first (of many sharp-eyed Ringers!) to write in about LOTR references in the movie Stepford Wifes (mouse over the words below to see the possible Stepford Wives spoiler): "I saw Stepford Wives last night and in it there is a very funny reference to LOTR hunks Orlando Bloom & Viggo Mortensen . It's a scene where Nicole Kidman & Bette Midler are going through the trash of a gay "wife" who's been changed into a robot and has thrown out things reflecting his real self. So along with his designer clothes, the garbage can contains a photo of Orlando and a t-shirt with Viggo's face on it."

Gollum to take on King Kong
