The September 2001 issue of Total Film magazine has a short item on FOTR in it's First Look section. No new info, or pics. Just the amusing/heart attack inducing typo at the head of the text. The release date. Its says 3rd of August. That's this Friday! Alas the text reiterates the release in Dec as we all know!

LOTR Extra Speaks?

7/31/01, 11:09 am EST - Xoanon

From: LC

While making my daily rounds on the oldmanmurray.com message boards, I came upon this little item. Fairly interesting, though not groundbreaking stuff. Slight language alert, as is typical at oldmanmurray.com.

They were planning on a turnout of about 9,000. They found out the night before {Tuesday} they were down about 3,000, which meant a 3 hour delay on the start time while they scoured the schools. They arrived at Victoria Uni, both Open and Wellington Polytechs and every high school within an hours drive, in about 30 buses and army trucks and said hop in. [More]

Hobbit-forming

WHILE New Line Cinema hits like "Austin Powers" could hardly be described as advancing the cause of teen literacy, the studio does want to get kids reading books - particularly J.R.R. Tolkien's epic "Lord of the Rings" series. New Line is joining with the American Library Association for a big "Teen Read Week" promotion this fall, with the emphasis on fantasy literature and the slogan, "Make reading a hobbit." Of course, it's no coincidence that the studio has bet the farm on its Tolkien trilogy, the first of which, "The Fellowship of the Ring," opens worldwide Dec. 19.

Green Books for August

7/26/01, 10:20 am EST - Calisuri

This comes from the desk of Green Book staffer Anwyn:

"Hello, all you Green Books fans! Summer is a busy, busy time, and we here at Green Books are feeling the pinch. Between the time taken up by Comic-Con last week and various other things, we’re going to postpone our monthly Green Books update for just a few days to make sure we’ve enough time to do things right for you! So be patient just a little longer. We’ll be sure to make it worth your wait!"

Calisuri here - Another reason for the delay is my cross country move to Los Angeles! (Still looking for a job if anyone needs a web designer) Expect the Green Books update during the 2nd week of August.

Quicktime LOTR Teaser Disappears...

7/26/01, 9:35 am EST - Calisuri

I just happened to be checking out the latest Quicktime trailers available at Apple.com when I realized 'Lord of the Rings' was no longer listed under New Line Cinema. (http://www.apple.com/trailers) Strange don't you think? Not to fret! The page is still there..just not listed anymore. [More]

Two reasons I can think for this change. 1) Real decided too many people were downloading LOTR stuff in quicktime format and got jealous. 2) New Line is finally releasing the FOTR Trailer in quicktime format and they are just reorganizing the listing. I personally hope its Number 2. Real is just annoying.
