At last Saturday night's performance of Hedda Gabler at the Wharf Theatre there were numerous signs and two verbal announcements before the play and after interval warning patrons to check their mobile phones were turned off. Kirstie writes: Sean Astin was one of the players at the Dodgers Hollywood Stars Game yesterday, among other celebrities. He played pretty well and even hit a home run at one point. He also accidentally hit a little kid with the ball, but he apologized over the microphone. Afterwards, some of the other stars were signing autographs, but he said he couldn't because he was running late for a black tie event and his wife was going to kill him.

Andria writes: I had the pleasure of listening to (I was too far away to see) Sean Astin give a political speech at a rally for John Kerry today in St. Louis. He referenced being Samwise Gamgee from LOTR which got a loud cheer from the crowd. Of the the people that spoke at the rally (pre-Kerry and Edwards) Astin delivered the most articulate and heart-felt speech of the group. I was thrilled.
