Spies in Auckland report that Peter Jackson was seen there checking out King Kong location possibilities, but he also went into the Imax cinema there - reportedly this is because they are checking out the possibility of putting all three films into Imax format.

At last Saturday night's performance of Hedda Gabler at the Wharf Theatre there were numerous signs and two verbal announcements before the play and after interval warning patrons to check their mobile phones were turned off. But the warnings were not enough. A Spike operative reports that about five minutes into the second half one patron's phone started to ring. To the tut-tuts of the audience, he reached into his bag to turn it off, but fumbled and the phone went flying onto the stage as the audience gasped. [More]

New 'Aniron' Font Announced

TheHutt writes: Just wanted to notify, that I just finished working on a new font from "Lord of the Rings" movie - "Aniron". This font is a replication of the typeface used in the end credits of PJs movie trilogy. The font supports Latin alphabet, numbers, punctuation, extended characters (accents) and a Cyrillic alphabet (!). The font is free for non-commercial use. Ryan writes: Here are some pictures of Orlando Bloom on the set of "Elizabethtown" being filmed at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial near the survivor tree. Apparently he is pretty camera shy and his body guards kept telling people not to take pictures. He stayed to sign autographs afterwards. They also filmed scenes in El Reno and Okarche, Oklahoma. Kirstie writes: Sean Astin was one of the players at the Dodgers Hollywood Stars Game yesterday, among other celebrities. He played pretty well and even hit a home run at one point. He also accidentally hit a little kid with the ball, but he apologized over the microphone. Afterwards, some of the other stars were signing autographs, but he said he couldn't because he was running late for a black tie event and his wife was going to kill him.

Astin on the Campaign Trail in the US

Andria writes: I had the pleasure of listening to (I was too far away to see) Sean Astin give a political speech at a rally for John Kerry today in St. Louis. He referenced being Samwise Gamgee from LOTR which got a loud cheer from the crowd. Of the the people that spoke at the rally (pre-Kerry and Edwards) Astin delivered the most articulate and heart-felt speech of the group. I was thrilled.
