Introduction Xoanon's Script Review

Xoanon here with my Review of the 2 scripts for LOTR

The guys at the Tolkien accuracy website are going to have kittens...never mind kittens, they're going to have gigantic slobbering sabretooth tigers. But I'll say it again like I've said it a million times, this is a FILM not a BOOK. And things need to be changed. For time, for story arcs and for easy viewing, remember, it'll be non Tolkien fans who want to see these movies as well. And they don't have the luxury of flipping to the back of the books for maps. Or heading on over to TheOneRing.net to find out exactly who 'Faramir' is. It is for them that PJ makes these films, as well as the rest of us who know everything inside and out.

With that said let me begin.

And having read Moriarty's review I'll try and touch the points that he missed. I will mainly be focusing on storyline characters and the Arwen situation.

First let me re assure you, these scripts are very well done, and are true to Tolkiens work on all the key issues (i.e. does it really matter if Legolas' hair is blond or black? If your answer is YESS!!!! You need to get offline and spend more time with your family) He does not stray with the characters at all. On the other hand he does make a few minor changes that I will address. I'll go from character to character at the end. On the whole the story is sound, moving from scene to scene with the appropriate 'smash cuts' and 'fades' that'll make the Tech folks out there like me happy. Moving along with the appropriate portions of action and character scenes. There is light humor, and some real horror here (this ain't no Rankin Bass cartoon is it precious?). All the fellowship characters are handled rather well, and the supporting cast is also very well fleshed out.
